Congratulations to all these great Young Designers! The talent in the room at the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures was huge! We can’t wait to see what all of you do in the future.
Sew Fun had a great time at Heirloom Elegance learning how to make a Quilt as you Go quilt block that they made into a hot pad.
Thanks to Laura Davidson for her lecture on fabric origins and how to shop for them. She also set up to do burn tests to discern fabric content for fabric brought in from home. A great learning experience!

If you jump between casual and more professional settings and need your clothes to keep up, a “topper” is a great alternative to the business jacket.
Check out Carolyn’s (Diary of a Sewing Fanatic) version to get more ideas of your own.
This is a great tutorial from Made By Rae for making your seams super strong – especially for kids clothes. Good pics and drawings on this tutorial too. Check it out!
We had a great meeting with Nick Perez showing his collection and sketches. What a great young designer!
